This issue is a bit of a departure from our usual format of being one main subject covered. Over the past few years as more information surfaces on subjects already covered in a previous issue of the Banner.
I have maintained a file of bits and pieces, photographs, etc. that on their own, do not justify a complete, new issue coverage. With this issue I have included some of those photographs. The ones at Tilton, Illinois, for example are ones that came into my possession long after James A. Tilton's excellent article on the Tilton yard.
As a historical society, we often concentrate on the history, or physical plant and rolling stock of the railroad. When in reality, a railroad is run by people. Hard working, dedicated, professional railroaders. Never forget, no matter how glamourous the profession.  With many people injured and killed every year.
Photographer Bill Raia offered the society the use of several "people" shots from his collection. He did not have names to gc with the photos. But as luck would have it, member Van McCullough was able to identify several of the men on the 573 "incident" and write a informative article on the chain of events that occurred so long ago.
I have printed the other photos that Bill Raia provided of the train crew at Montpelier, Ohio in the hopes that some of you members might be able to provide their names.
Also in this issue, I have included a photo of a live steam model built by member Ken Smith. This award winning model is so close to the real thing that I doubt that any reader would be able to identify it as a model, just from the photo alone.

All pictures are of the actual item.  If this is a railroad item, this material is obsolete and no longer in use by the railroad.  Please email with questions.
