PREVIEW
Baldwin Diesels 2 128
A PONDEROUS BALDWIN DRS6-6-1500 was working the iron ore dock at Conneaut, Ohio, for the Bessemer & Lake Erie on October 16, 1968. In spite of their size, the B&LE used its Baldwins as heavy switchers and did not equip them for multiple-unit operation. The little Amador Central in the Mother Lode country of California, on the other hand, used its former-Sharon Steel S12 No.9 (below) as its primary road engine. It was at the Southern Pacific interchange at lone, Cal., on December 29, 1972.
