FRONT COVER:
Through a cover of late winter snow, southbound third-class Boston & Maine train No. 8904 rolls past the B&M depot at Fairlee, Vt., halfway between Wells River and White River Junction. In charge this day are of one of Canadian Pacific's MLW/Alco road-switchers followed by a blue B&M Geep. This train originated at Windsor, Ontario as CP No. 904. It picked up the additional digit upon entering B&M trackage at Wells River. The date is March 3, 1971.
