About This Book . . .
"Australian Railways Today" is published in response to requests from railway enthusiasts following the publication of "Along the Line". Hundreds of letters were received, with many and varied suggestions; the latter boiled down to a desire for further books featuring all Australian railway systems, with as much steam as possible, as well as maps and explanatory text. Readers were divided as to whether they preferred present-day railway working or the recent past.
