On the Back of the book
A symbol of the vanished world of Edward VII or ..Theodore Roosevelt: an Atlantic going full-blast at the head of 'varnish' bound for Chicago, Edinburgh or Paris. Created in an era of lively technological development, the Atlantic steam locomotive quickly became the most prestigious and popular of the new engines capable of generating plenty of steam and crowding on horsepower as never before. In its great years (1900-1910) it hauled swift luxury trains, and also crack expresses which gave multitudes of people their first taste of high-speed travel.
