The compilation includes all Santa Fe owned and leased locomotives carrying Santa Fe roster numbers. Since many locomotives belonging to the Santa Fe fleet kept their original identity long into the railway merger, the data presented is arranged to show when the Santa Fe locomotives were physically altered and renumbered to show them as BNSF Railway locomotives, if not previously retired. The entire fleet is presented in Santa Fe roster number sequence by model along with historical and technical data. Within the roster section, all photographs are of Santa Fe locomotives.
