This book is a labor of love for me. I am very proud to have had a part in the Doe River Gorge organization and the rebirth of the railroad is just wonderful. I told Terry Maughon on several occasions that I was not much of a preacher but I might could help him out with his railroad. The work that the ministry does is from the heart and I support it unconditionally.
I would like to thank all the staff of Doe River Gorge and Mark Milbourne especially--he is keeping the flame lit every day. Nancy, it's tough being the wife of a railroad man, isn't it!
I also want to thank all the people who help out on the railroad-Phil, Steve, Darrell, Al, Choo-Choo, Johnny, Matt, Dyke, and anybody else I forgot--didn't mean to! Thanks to Frank Aldridge and his crew at the Tweetsie Railroad shops, also a big thanks to Keith Holley, the General Manager of the East Tennessee Railway and the best railroad man I know. All these folks helpout whenever I ask them.
All the pictures without credits on them I made. All the old pictures are from the Cy Crumley collection, lovingly preserved by his baby daughter Ruth Tupper of Johnson City. She is more like her daddy than she realizes!
