Postcard Central Vermont - Grand Trunk 1776
General Motors Electro Motive GP9 No. 1776 in new bicentennial paint scheme stands in front of the Grand Trunk general office building in Portland, Me. 1776 was only a month out of the St. Albans paint shop when this photograph was taken during a tour as the Portland based switcher, January 10, 1976. The GP9 was originally delivered to the Grand Trunk as No. 1776 but later renumbered to 4450 and has been on the roster since 1956. Bicentennial idea was suggested to the Canadian National, the parent road, by the 470 Railroad Club and Island Pond Historical Society.
