ON THE BACK COVER
There's probably not a novel on the bookstore shelves with more intrigue and petty politics   than the illustrious Prince Edward Island Railway. Follow the enthralling adventure from the rumors of its impending construction in the 1860s to its eventual abandonment on Dec. 28th, 1989. The author, whose father was a C.N.R. sectionman from 1920 to 1946, has been researching this history for over thirty years. It is a wonderfully illustrated history of the Prince Edward Island Railway, and its successor, Canadian National Railways. It provides the reader with a masterful chronicle of the events associated with the P.E.I.R. (1871-1918), based mainly on detailed newspaper accounts of the day. The C.N. years (1919-1989) are documented primarily through photographs taken by some of North America's best amateur and professional photographers.
