In words and pictures, railway photographer and author Peter Gray takes us mile by mile down the line, from the junction at Newton Abbot, on the former Great Western Railway's South Devon main line, to the terminus at Kingswear, not forgetting the ferry across the river to Dartmouth.
From the early 1900s to the present day, we can witness the unfolding story of this scenic holiday line, through Paignton, the start of the preserved section, beside the sea at Goodrington, to Churston and the Brixham branch, through dense woodland around Greenway Tunnel, and down to the terminus beside the yacht-filled estuary.
