FOREWORD
Special 48, "The Ontario & San Antonio Heights
Railroad Company ---Pacific Electric In Ontario $ Claremont," is the
immediate sequel to our Special 46, "Pacific Electric In Pomona," as
well as another in the series of histories of the various predecessor companies
of Pacific Electric.
The O$SA history naturally falls into two parts. First, the
little mule car line, later electrified, up Euclid Avenue from the Southern
Pacific Station in Ontario to Upland and San Antonio Heights. Second, the
roundabout cross country interurban line from Upland to Pomona. These somewhat
disparate subjects make the OFSA history doubly interesting.
The succession of PE to the ownership of the O$SA properties
in 1912 starts another chapter, equally interesting.
