Major Amtrak highlights:
Northeast Corridor BOS/ NYP/ PH L/WAS (table 1) new Liberty Express Service provides 2 additional daily R/Ts PHL/BOS, limited stops. "Manhattan Transfer" guarantees across-the-platform connections at NYP for trains 173-117 and 108-172, saving 50 minutes BOS/WAS. Last daily WAS departure for BOS moved to 4:10 pm. New local trains NHV/BOS 8t PHL/WAS.
Adirondack NYG/MNT (table 2a) 50 mins. later north; 21/2 hrs. later south.
Empire Route (table 4) service pattern changes NYG/ALB.
Florida Route (tables 5 Et 12) all times at Miami change account new station location. CHI/MIA train operates 11/2 hours earlier southbound.
Broadway Limited WAS-NYP/CHI (table 6) 35 minutes earlier westbound.
National LimitedWAS-NYP/KCY (table 7) eastbound: departs KCY 35 minutes later; 15 minutes faster to STL; operates 20 minutes later STL/NYP. Westbound: 30 minutes faster COL/IND; "5 minutes faster STL/KCY.
Lake Shore Limited BOS-NYP/CHI (table 8 BOS/ALB section cuts 20 minutes runnng time; departs BOS 22 minutes later, arrives BOS 20 minutes earlier.
Panama Limited CHI/NOL (table 13) 20 minutes cut from running time.
North Star CHIIMSPIDUL (table 18) new overnight Amfleet-plus-sleeper train.
Inter-American CHI/STL/LDO (table 21) over 2 hours faster; daily on May 24.
San Francisco Zephyr CHI/SFO (table 23) eastbound departure 10 minutes earlier; time adjustments OGD/DEN.
Sunset Limited NOL/LAX (table 30) westbound: departs NOL 30 minutes later; running time reduced 30 minutes. Eastbound: departs LAX 45 minutes later; 15 minutes faster.
North Coast Hiawatha Et Empire Builder CHI/SEA (tobles 31 Et- 32) schedule patterns revised to connect with Coast Starlight at SEA.
Pacific International VAN/SEA (table 33); departs VAN 10 minutes earlier.
San Diegans LAX/SAN (table 36) first daily departure from LAX now 8:30 am. Other coverage includes:
VIA Rail Canada schedules effective April 3( through May 31. Only times for endpoints and major stations could be confirmed at press time. Consult VIA agent before traveling. Transcontinental routes set for June 1 revise.
