Introduction
This is the fifth in a series of six photo albums covering the Northeast Railroad Scene in the 20 or so years before Conrail. As we have said before, these are not a complete history of the lines involved, just a brief pictorial look at each road. There are areas that have been overlooked, however we would like to just bring back some fond memories of the Jersey Central Railroad.
This volume will bring back many memories of the CNJ, since the High Bridge Branch was not too far from my home. The sound of trains blowing for crossings in Kenvil, Succasunna. Flanders & Bartley could be heard clearly while sitting in my living room. The leisurely pace of the trains made them easy to follow and photograph while making their way up or down the branch.
We have tried to cover the different aspects of the railroad, from the slow branch lines to the busy commuter district and the Main Line. Hopefully this book will bring back some fond memories of "The Big Little Railroad."
