North Western Lines C&NW is issued quarterly, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall by the Chicago & North Western Historical Society. COVER: On Memorial Day weekend in 1963. Chicagoan Jim Neubauer ventured to North Freedom- Wisconsin to see the C&NW R-1 promised to be in operation at the then-new Mid-Continent Railway Museum. After riding behind 1385. he remembered that train 519. the Rochester 400. was due at North Freedom in the early afternoon. Those coming and going views were the result as the train came 'galumphing lickety-split' through town- The wooden caboose served as MCRM's ticket office that first season. 519 lasted only another two months-
