THIS VOLUME PRESENTS in a concise form the history of an organisation which began to build railway locomotives 120 years ago. It also marks the 50th anniversary of the amalgamation of three pioneer companies into the present company. Probably no other form of transport has done so much to help the development of world trade and we claim just pride in our contribution to the railroads of the world.
