Men who work in the late night usually have a name for their tour of duty. Printers call it the "lobster", factory people the "graveyard", others the "overnight", the "third", the "early watch".
But to the old-time railroad telegraphers - to the men who worked the 24-hour offices which cleared the trains before modern signalling and double-track - it was simply "night trick".
So "Night Trick" it is - this picture booklet of after-dark life along the Norfolk and Western, of our people, our trains and some of the country we serve. It is dedicated to railfans everywhere.

Images of trains and railroad workers at night.
