In this volume, Willis McCaleb's photography takes us on a color trip to the west end of the Nickel Plate Road. We also get to explore the scenic Wheeling and Lake Erie District. Bellevue ended the first volume, but there wasn't enough room to contain the many fine images Willis had created at this major terminal. Bellevue, therefore, begins our second book.
Willis' photography documents major changes in railroad technology, equipment purchase, passenger decline and new marketing strategy. There is also the hint of future merger resulting in eradication of the Nickel Plate name. This time of transition was a major chapter in the history of industrial change. The Age of Steam was formally ending. But this story is not just about machines. People populate Willis' story. Emotions swirl through diminishing steam.
