EDITOR'S PREFACE

This volume is an attempt to give the modeler/historian a selection of photographs of locomotives from the later years of the RGS and D&RGW. Selection was guided by the desire to show the variations in detail, lettering and condition of the locomotives. The best photographs are not always the most interesting, and I hope that the reader will accept variations in quality in exchange for the details shown.

This book is a technical reference. It is intended only as a photographic aid to model building. For technical information, we recommend the Colorado Railroad Museum's Locomotives of the Rio Grande.

All pictures are of the actual item. There may be reflection from the lights in some photos. We try to take photos of any damage.
