MODEL RAILROADING GIL PAUST
Today the making of model railroad trains is a massive world-wide industry providing child and adult hobbyists with the fun and intrigue of working with scaled-down facsimiles of life-size prototypes. Even a little push-pull train or a simple circle of track with a single train running around a table will evoke the sights, sound, and drama of its prototype-the thunder of the mighty "iron horse," the lonesome shriek of the whistles, the rolling rhythm of wheels along the tracks.
In MODEL RAILROADING, by Gil Paust, model railroad enthusiasts of all ages will find all kinds of exciting information about the hobby, from the different types of locomotives and their classifications, to signals and accessories, to designing their own model railroad empires. There are instructions on safety and maintenance, plus information about the national model railroad society hobbyists may join, local clubs they may organize themselves, and leading manufacturers and publications. The book includes a helpful vocabulary of model railroad terms and is lavishly illustrated with diagrams and photographs. So, whether you are a beginner or an advanced hobbyist, this book will get you "highballing" toward hours of fun with model railroad trains. Wh000-h0000!
Until several years ago, Gil Paust was editor in chief of a national magazine. He has had hundreds of his own stories published in addition to a dozen books. He has B.A. and M.A. degrees from Columbia University, and has taught in high school and college. He has also been an aircraft pilot and an instructor of Air Force cadets. A native of New York State, Gil Paust and his wife, Anne, live in Westchester County, New York and their hideaway on Ratlum Mountain, Connecticut.
