Rod Priddle, a Bathonian, has lived in the West Country all his life. He is a retired Fire Officer who served with the Bristol and Wiltshire Fire Brigades and also with the British Railways Fire Department. He has long been interested in local history and has researched a wide variety of subjects. He has recently completed an anthology of air force poetry and is currently preparing a history of airfields in Wiltshire.
David Hyde has been lecturing on the GWR for over 20 years. He has co-authored several railway books and written many articles for railway journals. He gives talks to societies and organisations throughout the south on all aspects of the company. His evening classes in and around Wiltshire concentrate on the railways of the county, particularly the branch lines and the Midland & South West Junction Railway. He is the President of the Pewsey Vale Railway Society which was formed in 1989 as a result of one of his evening classes.
