Preface
There have been many books published in recent years about
Great Western Railway and its locomotives. The task of )uld be editors is to try and find unpublished photographs, origina! presentation and a new title for the publication once it is complete.
In this book, the editors have attempted to overcome these problems. Many months have been spent in the search for new istrations, a task that becomes more difficult as the years go , and of course one needs many more pictures than those actually used in order to have as wide a choice as possible. spite the effort made, you may have seen some of them before t it is hoped the majority will be new to you.
The choice of presentation depends of course on the type photographs that become available. There have been many )erb books which consist only of photographs of locomotives 1 their trains; in this publication the material covers a wider Id of railway activity and the sections on commerce and staff, example, have been made possible by the discovery of some excellent prints.
The choice of title has become very restricted. As previous-mentioned, there are currently available so many books about Great Western that an original title is difficult to find, indeed ne titles have been used more than once already!
The main point however, is to produce a book that railway enthusiasts will enjoy, and it is sincerely hoped that you will d this one to your liking.
All pictures are of the actual item. There may be reflection from the lights in some photos. We try to take photos of any damage.
