ABOUT THE BOOK
The Great Northern? Sure, that makes sense. But why in Minnesota?
After spending thousands of hours researching my earlier books on the history of the Milwaukee Road, the Chicago Great Western, and the Chicago & North Western which dominated much of southern Minnesota; I came to realize that my direction in the future would turn to the north and the rails of the Empire Builder. Since I am now and probably always will be fascinated by Minnesota history I soon resigned myself to the fact that one cannot be a student of the state's railroad history without being drawn into a study of the Hill roads.
