INTRODUCTION
The subsequent chapters deal with the history of what was perhaps America's most unusual trolley line. Since the operation has been discontinued for some twenty-five years, and no records survive of the years of trolley service - at least, not that we have been able to find, the book has been made possible only through the co-operation of numerous individuals.
Dr. Allan Lake Rice is responsible for researching the original Fairmount Park Centennial services and has furnished data relative to the Parisian equivalent which is discussed in the early portion of the book.
Paul J. Schieck is responsible for the map of the Centennial Grounds showing the various means of transportation used to get crowds and equipment from one part of the property to another.
Andrew Maginnis furnished certain early publications relating to the trolley operation.
Pictures are from the collections cited. Attempts to unsnarl what appears to be a simple car roster involved Fred Schneider and William Powelson.
