This book seeks to cover comprehensivley the diesel locomotive designs that have been applied in the United States since 1918, with the following exceptions: industrial, military, and export designs are not included. Related designs produced in Canada are also included. Models announced after the middle of 1966 are not included.
This book is organized by builders, as shown in the table of contents. A model and specification number index included at the rear of the book to enable the reader to ge the data from that direction.
