Introduction

Taken from the pages of Model Railroading magazine, the articles in this second volume provide a cross-sectional look at prototypes from all regions of the country, from some of the earliest Fs to the most modern power on today's roads. This volume's Special Section takes a look at General Electric's Dash 9-44CW, and provides both prototype information and useful modeling ideas. All of the articles were originally published in MRG between July 1994 and May 1996.
To make this book more useful to modelers, the Table of Contents first lists the Dash 9 articles in the Special Section, then lists all articles by railroad.
This volume is also the first to feature the artwork of Marc Desobeau on the cover. Marc is more than just a talented young artist, he is also an engineer on the Union Pacific. Many of his paintings feature the equipment he operates in settings along the route he regular runs between Ogden, Utah, and Green River, Wyoming. Many of Marc's original works, including this one, hang in our offices at Highlands Station.
