This subsidiary of Caterpillar has produced a trio of locomotives to test its latest concept of a high-horsepower Cat-powered locomotive for mainline freight service. A pair were delivered to Norfolk Southern in late 2008 and they have performed well-enough to garner a follow-up order to be delivered in early 2011.

41 New Haven's ALCo FA and FB FleetDiesel Era staff
This New England carrier began dieselization with an ALCo diesel-electric and remained a loyal customer well into the 1960s. Early purchases of HH models for switching and DL-109s for both passenger and freight service paved the way for a 50-unit fleet of FA/FBs to dieselize its important east-west line between Hew Haven, Conn., and Maybrook, N.Y., in the late 1940s.
