The egg, with its unadorned, rounded shape, seems to hold a special fascination and offer an irresistible challenge for certain craftsmen. In recent years, eggcraft has grown at an astonishing rate. This is due in part to the fact that craft manufacturers have finally made available the materials and supplies which used to be so difficult to find, enabling more and more people to discover the pleasures of the craft. And, too, eggers themselves have helped to promote their craft by the nationwide sponsoring of egg art shows which bring their work before the public eye.
There was a time when eggcraft was a little known craft practiced by a seemingly few devoted eggers. When Creative Crafts first started publishing articles on egg art, the response from our readership was so enthusiastic that it became apparent that there were a great many people who love eggcraft. Most of those early articles, and some more recent ones, are included in this volume. We hope you'll enjoy them.
