When I started this book, I had no intention of making it a history lesson. The more I thought about it, I decided anyone who likes to read about trains is still interested in the history of how it all began. My goal was to tell about all the stories I have experienced in my adventures as a trainman, or heard while sitting around the campfire, or in the bar having a cold beer, after a long trip on the train. The stories I tell in this book are ones that very few people ever hear. They are true stories that really happened, and were usually just as crazy as they sound. I'll try to keep the history lesson as short and brief as possible, but interesting. This is a book about trains, but leans more toward the adventures of Conductors and Engineers and their daily experiences working on the railroad. I am not a writer but a story teller, so don't expect a lot of fancy words and long drawn out sentences, that make you go back two paragraphs, to figure out what the heck I was talking about. Some stories are believable, some unbelievable, others funny and sad, or shocking and crazy, but all very informative and true.
