Anecdotes
In this volume we have witnessed the highpoint in the Cincinnati Street Railway as it headed into the great depression. In book No. 8 we will tell how the street railway system emerged from the effects of both the depression and the devastating flood of 1937 (high-water trestles!) to move into a period of streamliners and sight-seeing cars on the rails and trolley coaches on rubber tires but under the familiar twin trolley wires. The Company took over the tracks of another interurban and there will be construction and rebuilding--the Western Hills Viaduct, Vine Street hill, a new loop at the Zoo, and a balloon loop unballooned. The vast Cincinnati Street Railway affords much to recall with interest before the rails disappeared.
