In conversing with someone over our efforts at doing a color photo books on Burlington facilities on a divisional level, they remarked that the Hannibal Division was one of the most obscure divisions of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. If one wanted to photograph the ZEPHYR'S, one went to the Chicago, IL to Denver, CO route or the Chicago, IL to St. Paul route. In the period after the Northern Lines merger, if one wanted to photograph freight trains, they also went to the same lines but also had the added bonus of a large number of coal trains on the former Alliance and McCook Divisions, where historically very few freight trains were operated (excluding the seasonal grain, livestock and sugar beet seasons). Therefore, they never shot freight trains or passenger trains on the Hannibal Division because they were so infrequent. One can extend the analogy to the color photography of depots and facilities as well.
