About The Book
Volume III of this three-volume set on the Central New England Railway continues on from Volume II with the stations, industries, track configurations, etc. There are over 850 various photos, sketches, and diagrams contained within.
Mostif not allpoints of interest are located by the use of topo maps for those of you wishing to explore the line by auto and/or on foot. Bob's Photo evidently acquired the negatives for various Public Utilities Commission of Connecticut rail inspections of the line for the middle 1920's, as most of their highway crossing photos are reproduced herein.
The lime and pig iron industries, and the latter associated industries, are covered separately for the CanaanEast Canaan, Connecticut, area, with a short history of each. This area of the railroad appeared to be the largest revenue producer of the line for industry located on line. Though late on the scene, there are four pages of the industries at East Canaan shown on pages 208 thru 211, that to me are priceless. What a series of books this would have made to be able to cover the entire railroad in this manner!
This volume is not directed toward any one type of reader and hopefully no matter what your interest is in railroading, you will find enjoyment within its covers. They really are not planned to be that way as 99% of the material used is my choice of what I look for in a railroad book. Being a former railroader, I have a keen interest in industries that had and are serviced by rail, which, no doubt, is reflected by my choice of material in my books. The CNE books are no exception. I only wish that time had permitted me to dig for more industry views for this series of books.

All pictures are of the actual item.  There may be reflection from the lights in some photos.   We try to take photos of any damage.    If this is a railroad item, this material is obsolete and no longer in use by the railroad.  Please email with questions.
