INTRODUCTION
This book is a complementary source of material for my first book, Passenger Cars of the Burlington. This will give the historian, the fan of passenger cars, or the railroad train modeler more information about each type of passenger car. The modelers can see how to finish their model cars, how they were lettered, and some of the few variations of different colors the early cars were painted, and also the type of equipment installed on the underside. I have included brochures to give us an idea of the advertisements the railroad used to entice travelers to use the Burlington, and to add some color to all the black and white photos of the passenger cars.
I have arranged the book in the same order as the diagram book starting with the lowest numbered cars, the diners. Of course this is a great place to start as the dining cars were some of the most exciting cars the railroads used. Before the diner section, I have what I call an "Early History" section on the earliest passenger cars, taken from old brochures of the late 1800's.
