Introduction
I was introduced to Brixham in 1955 and lived there until 1965 when my job took me away from the West Country; unfortunately so far I have not been able to get back, except for holidays. As a schoolboy I spent all my holidays at Brixham station which was opposite my home, just rushing home for meals and out again. I travelled the line many hundreds of times and I even "commuted" by it to and from work at Torquay for just over a year until it closed. So I felt that I must write a book about it; research started in 1981 but various other projects took priority and writing did not begin in earnest until 1985.
