This book features the work of Philip Ross Hastings with text by Frank Kyper, published by Locomotive & Railway Preservation. Philip Hastings was one of the greats among railway photographers. Beginning in the late 1930s, Hastings captured the zenith of steam and the whole spirit or feel of the railroad world. His photography continued for some 50 years, but he had a special place for the B&M and this book presents some of his finest work on that road. Fifty years age he claimed a trackside spot that soon became his alone. Hastings's vision of railroading, warmed by the spark of his photographic genius, transformed the ordinary, the commonplace, into grandiose.
