Be informed
Before you book your holiday, you will need plenty of information on the boats and areas that you can cruise. This booklet presents detailed information on a really wide choice of both boats to skipper-yourself or hotel-boats for those on their own and wishing a cabin aboard one of the floating hotels.
Recommended boats on the following pages All the boatyards on the following pages are independently run concerns. We are most selective when it comes to deciding which operators to include. We accept only a limited number of boat hiring firms from the many operators who apply for inclusion in this booklet. High standards of service and maintenance have resulted from this policy.
Better boating holidays
Statistical analysis of information taken from the booking form shows that an ever increasing number of people who have previously enjoyed boating holidays now book through the service provided by Boat Enquiries. Over 1000 bookings in 1978 were from clients who told us that they had boated before but not through Boat Enquiries; this represents a conservative estimate of 4000 people.
Moreover from a survey carried out over one month in the spring of 1978, many clients said that they were having a better holiday than previous boating holidays. Indeed 48% of survey-replies rated the boats as excellent, 46% good, 5% fair, 1% poor and 1% didn't reply. 46% rated cruising area as good, 45% excellent, 5% fair, 1% poor and 3% failed to answer. The survey data has been passed to the English Tourist Board who are using this information in their own independent study on inland waterways.
