Epilogue: And Still the Rails295
All Aboard!, the first comprehensive history of Michigan railroading, contains a wealth of information on every aspect of its subject from that first struggling line, through the period of success, and on to recent years, when trackage has been abandoned, and passenger service reduced to a fraction of what it once was. Dr. Dunbar, however, has no intention of writing any epitaphs; he concludes with a firm prediction that railroads will find a place even in the space age. "Indeed," he tells us, "the future may be even more exciting than the past."
