In the preparation of this autobiography I have endeavored to depict the transition in rail passenger service over a period of nearly 69 years, citing personal experiences and incidents which have been recorded in my memory. I have made an effort to portray some of the interesting aspects of travel on railroads throughout a vast region - from the southern extremity of Canada to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, and from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The routes as enumerated include both standard and narrow gauge rails traversing North America - through the tropics, lowlands, plains, deserts and mountainous regions.
In an effort to complete the picture and preserve the record, factual data and historical inserts based on extensive research have been included in this story. The author is indebted to many individuals and railroads who have made it possible to consummate this project.
