As the title implies, this is a book of track maps of the New York City subway system. All the maps in this book are schematic representations of existing trackwork and stations and are absolutely not to scale. This book is for subway and urban transit aficionadoes, railfans and kids of all ages who like to "look out the front." While some readers may decide to use this book as an unofficial training supplement please keep in mind that it is not a substitute for official MTA New York City Transit study materials, nor is it sanctioned by the MTA. Its goal is to help one understand that seemingly incomprehensible maze of tunnels, signals, rail and switches. For those dedicated professionals who keep New York's subways running, you have this author's sincerest appreciation.
In this book you will find information about the day-to-day operations of the system, including the placement of every mainline and yard track, signaling details, radio frequencies, horn and buzzer signals, track numbers and much more. You will also find drawings of tracks long gone and of tracks yet to be built. While all of the trackwork depicted has been personally verified, some errors can still creep in.
